Video of the folding/unfolding with optional child tray February 1, 2010 Philip Wong (Austin, TX) 21 out of 21 found this review helpful
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1BQECN8BGJ5TW We bought the City Mini after considering the Uppababy strollers. Uppababy was nice and easier to fold than others, but was still a little heavier than we wanted. We wanted something that folded easily and was lightweight so that my wife could take it in/out of the trunk without straining. A sales representative suggested we try out the City Mini since we didn't need the bassinet because our child was already 8 months old.
We were shocked at how light, durable, maneuverable, and "fold-able" this stroller was, and at a third of the cost of the Uppababy stroller we were looking at! The sun shade has 3-4 different positions and gets quite low if needed. Another neat feature is that the sun shade has two peek-a-boo windows. The major selling point for us was the ease of folding it up, so much that we were driven to make our first video review on Amazon.
We wished it came with a belly bar, but saw that we could purchase it separately. In the end, we bought the child tray instead so we could put things in front of our baby to keep her busy (note that you can keep the tray attached when you fold/unfold the stroller). Although the 2010 model comes with a larger basket underneath the stroller than the 2009 model, it is difficult to insert a larger diaper bag because of a metal bar located by the opening. There is no cup holder, but we didn't really care about that.
Overall, we would recommend this product. We are very happy with our purchase.
BEST STROLLER EVER AND I'VE OWNED THEM ALL! November 7, 2009 Hillary Brown (CA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Let me start by saying i've had a bugaboo frog, quinny buzz, bob rev, mac, and peg p3 and this one is THE best! So light, easy to fold, HUGE shade , cool colors (we had the vibrant orange-love it!), padded flat reclining seat, mesh recline for air/you can see the baby when reclined, BEST push (better than the bug for sure!), two windows in canopy, ability to take belly bar/car seat adaptor, wheels easy to bump up/down curbs, and flat flat fold. This is NOT a jogging stroller, rather more like a peg p3 set up with 3 wheels. some outdoor use is ok but it is more of an errand/mall stroller. If you walk more outside, look at the baby jogger city classic or elite, big air tires but same great fold/canopy. The sunshine kids caddy fits PERFECT on the mini for drinks/keys etc and is sold on amazon too :) Love my mini, makes quick trips with my toddler/ 5 month old great (we are using the car seat adaptor). hth!
Great stroller, will last several children and then some... December 7, 2009 Oh Mamacita 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Yes, so basically, this stroller is indestructible. I have had it for over a year and used it daily. It still looks like new. It hides dirt well (I have the orange gray) and the material stays cool in the summer. The shade is great - it nearly covers completely and has two windows for peaking in on the little one. The ride is very smooth and it turns on a dime. This stroller will NOT tip over on you. The storage basket on the bottom is quite large and easy to access. It dips down almost to flat and my son sleeps comfortably in it.
I took it into the city (NYC) for a walk with the kiddie, to see the sites. It held up beautifully.
My only caveat is that it is neither light nor compact, although my dad disagrees (he feels it's just fine, I guess for my wimpy girly arms it felt a little heavy). It folds up pretty tight, but holding it for all those blocks of walking was a little uncomfortable after a while. However, there is an option to attach a shoulder strap to it. I will try that next time to see if there is a difference with navigation.
All in all, especially if you live in the city, this is the only stroller you should buy.
Perfect January 1, 2010 T.W.M. (S.F. Bay Area, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Absolutely wonderful stroller. The hood/shade folds out very far, providing superb coverage. It has two "windows" (covered with a flap of the chosen colored material with velcro stays) so you can choose to peep in on your child through the top of the shade or cover the window to let them sleep. The back can be easily lowered to be completely flat, so the child can sleep soundly without having to remain in a seated position (this seems to be a rarity in strollers...most won't go flat like this one will and this feature comes in handy). There's a pull down screen that you can engage when you've lowered the back platform, so that your child won't have light streaming in from behind. The stroller folds up into a pretty compact form with a couple of fast un-snaps and a tug of a handle (one handed folding). It folds up compact enough to fit in the boot (trunk) of my MINI Cooper without having to remove wheels, etc. (so, it's VERY COMPACT). Shock-absorbing give on the front wheel allows it to ride smoothly over railroad tracks. There's a single pedal which sets the brakes on the two rear wheels (sometimes you have to rotate the wheels a little further to get the brake to engage properly). Tripod wheel stance makes it extremely manuverable.
Only drawbacks are that the basket underneath is a bit small and the stroller is a bit expensive (though I think well worth it) for one that doesn't provide cup holders and other small conveniences in the basic model (you can buy these as accessories). For the accessories, I would recommend the parent convenience console as it includes a cup holder (can easily hold a nissan "to-go" thermos or a starbucks/peet's cup). I bought the child tray, but it's too high in relation to where my 11-month old sits in the stroller to use it. When she gets bigger, it will be more useful. Cannot comment on the rain canopy as I'm waiting for it to come back in stock to buy it.
Stroller comes in a number of great colors. I chose Crimson and Grey as they are the colors of my Alma mater and also because I thought it'd be more noticeable to drivers when it's in a crosswalk.
Great Stroller February 1, 2010 NewMom07 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This stroller is great-- the biggest items on my list were: *durable *compact enough (can maneuver easily in stores) *lightweight *can turn one-handed. This fits all of them. I have exhasted myself researching strollers, usually you have to choose between comfort and features with weight and portability. This does all of that. I had a Maclaren, which is great for travel (umbrella fold) but it is just too tipsy with not enough storage for everyday use. I also have a Bob Revolution because we are true joggers, but it is just too big and heavy for everyday use.
You won't find a canopy like this anywhere, and it is so stable it would take a lot to tip it over. The price is great for the quality. Look at other stroller that are cheaper-- you'll find quality complaints (things breaking, heavy). And stroller that aren't nearly as good that are much more expensive.
The only major complaint I've seen is that the seatback is too soft, causing the child to slouch. This might not bother you or your kid. But I 'stole' an easy fix from another reviewer: buy a 3-ring binder (the kind with that is cardboard). Cut one portion of the cardboard off the binder and it slides right in behind the seatback (you'll see where you can release the velcro in the back to do this). It is a perfect fix.
